Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women. All people, whether male or female, are born with some breast cells and tissue that have the possibility to develop into cancer. However, breast cancer in men is rare, with only about 2,190 diagnoses each year.
There are different symptoms of breast cancer, and some people have no symptoms at all. Symptoms can include and change in size or shape of the breast, pain in any area of the breast, nipple discharge than than milk (including blood), and a new lump in the breast or underarm. Most women who get breast caner have no known risk factors and no history of the disease in their families.
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of early section of breast cancer. Make a difference! Spread the word about mammograms and encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to get involved.
Millions of women are surviving this disease thanks in part to early detection and improvements in treatments.
